Grace Lin Anderson, cello

Cellist Grace Lin Anderson has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician in numerous leading concert venues throughout North America and Europe, and has captured top prizes at prestigious competitions, such as the Artist International Auditions and the National Federation of Music Clubs Competition. Mrs. Anderson made her New York debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1999 to critical acclaim. The performance was characterized by "rapier definition and boundless energy," according to the New York Concert Review. She has also given solo recitals at Alice Tully at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Bargemusic, Kennedy Center, Caramoor International Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, and the Los Angeles International Laureates Festival. She has performed extensively aboard, as guest artist at music festivals in Canada, Holland, Germany, France, and Croatia.

As an avid chamber musician, Mrs. Anderson has enjoyed numerous collaborations with world-class musicians. They have included many members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, among them violinist Cho-Liang Lin, Mark Peskanov, violist Paul Neubauer, and cellist Fred Sherry. Mrs. Anderson is the founder and artistic director of the Tedesca Chamber Players, an all-strings ensemble based in New York City. The group's performance of the Schubert String Quintet at New York City’s famous Trinity Church to commemorate the victims of September 11th was broadcast worldwide by BBC television. Mrs. Anderson earned her Bachelor’s degree with honors from Harvard University and her Master’s degree from the Juilliard School. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her principal teachers were Fred Sherry and Bernard Greenhouse.

She now performs frequently in the Triad region. Her recent performances include the Fantasy for Solo Cello by Gunther Schuller at the Laszlo Varga Celebration, and an appearance in the Music@Watson series with members of the artist faculty at North Carolina School of the Arts. She founded the Triad Chamber Music Society in 2006 to establish a world-class chamber music and master class series in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, with the goal of combining the artistic expertise of internationally renowned players with the talents of area players, and fostering the development of the next generation of musicians and concertgoers.
