| The Carolina Summer Music Festival Meet the Musicians . . . Anna Lampidis, oboe and English horn, has earned a reputation as an orchestral player, chamber musician and teacher. She currently serves a principal oboe of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and also holds positions with the Greensboro Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle and the Carolina Chamber Symphony. She has also performed with such organizations as the Miami City Ballet, Winston-Salem, New Haven, and New World Symphonies. Ms. Lampidis has performed at numerous conferences and conventions including those of Florida Bandmasters Association, Sigma Alpha Iota, International Double Reed Society, College Band Director National Association, and North Carolina Music Educators Association and most recently the 2007 Mid-Atlantic Chapter of College Music Society where she premiered a work written for her by J.W. Turner titled “Snake Dance”. As oboe soloist, she has won several solo and chamber music competitions including Carmel Chamber Music Competition as a member of the Elektra Quintet, UNCG/NC Symphony Competition, Florida Philharmonic, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Boca Symphonic Pops, BCC Symphony, North Shore Concert Band (IL) as well as numerous solo performance at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (NC). She has premiered works by Michael Colgrass, and has recorded for composer Frank McCarty as well as the University of Miami Symphony, University of North Carolina Wind Ensemble, and Latin recording artist Juan Xavier. Her degrees include a DMA from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, MM from Yale University and BM from the University of Miami, Florida. Her teachers have included Mary Ashley Barret, Ronald Roseman, John Dee and Daniel Stolper and additional studies in master class and lessons with Robert Mayer, Ray Still, John deLancie, Joseph Robinson, Nancy King, Tom Stacey, and Richard Killmer. Since 2004, Ms. Lampidis has served as a member of the faculty at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She currently resides in Greensboro with her husband and two children and is active as a private teacher, clinician and free-lance oboist. Back to Artists Roster |
